The SCOBY was thick, healthy, and arrived in plenty of starter liquid. Brewing guide covers the basics well. I wish it had more information about secondary fermentation and flavoring, but there are plenty of online resources.

Learning curve involved

My first batch was too vinegary because I let it ferment too long. Second batch was much better. The pH strips are essential for knowing when it is ready. Would be helpful if they included a temperature guide for different seasons.
